Engagement Session - What to Wear

The moment you have been dreaming of has finally happened.  He asked you and you said yes!  Now for the fun part...celebrating your Engagement through your Engagement Session.

When it comes to Engagement Sessions, the sky is the limit as far as what look, feel and/or theme best captures your relationship.  From apple picking, to a tire-shop, Tim Horton's or Center Island, we have had many fun adventures with so many wonderful couples.

The number one question we get asked in planning for this fun session is what to wear and bring to the Engagement Session.  As for what to bring that one is easy...your smiles (of course) ☺  Typically our Engagement Sessions consist of two outfit changes...usually couples choose one casual and one dressy to mix things up a bit...they are also welcome to add in any props in the mix as well.  Most couples do a great job in picking out outfits but to be helpful, we have come up with a few "tips" that are helpful:
  • First of all, come up with a three color palette that you know you both can work with.  By working with three complimentary colours, we find that it opens up lots of options in your current wardrobes and keeps your images looking sweet.  (3-colour example:  dark blue denim, chocolate brown and gray)
  • Layering looks great and tends to pull the viewer up to your most important feature – your face!  It adds interest to your images and allows for variation as we move along in your Session.  Layering also can help to hide any “trouble” areas on the body that one might not be confident with.
  • What not to wear is just as important as what to wear.  Here are a few things to avoid:  no big logos or wording on the front of shirts (unless of course it is a sports jersey), stay away from stripes and busy patterns and no white socks (for the guys)
  • Have FUN!  We want you to be comfortable and YOU so have fun in picking out your outfits together.
  • Last tip:  If you feel great in it, you likely look great in it!
